Trometamol 77-86-1 is White crystal or powder. Melting point 171-172℃, boiling point 219-220℃/1.3kPa. Trometamol 77-86-1 was also known as THAM, is widely used as a biological buffer or as a component of buffer formulations such as TAE and TBE buffers. IgE-mediated gadolinium contrast agent allergy can be provoked by excipients such as trometamol. Trometamol is used as a buffer in the application of biochemistry and molecular biology.

Trometamol could be a sensitizing agent in patients with nonimmediate large local reactions to the Moderna vaccine (“COVID arm”). In this study, delayed-reading intradermal testing was a useful confirmatory tool. Importantly, these patients can safely receive another dose of the vaccine if needed. The positivity of ST with nonirritant concentrations in all patients suggests that hypersensitivity to trometamol could play a role in some patients experiencing nonimmediate large local reactions to the Moderna vaccine.
Trometamol was UV inactive compound. Trometamol was determined by RP-LC method using Inertsil NH2 (250×4.6mm, 5µm) column as motionless segment. Column temperature maintained 30°C, inoculation quantity 10µL, flow velocity was 0.3 ml/min, sample cooler temperature 25°C.
